Powder brows in Brighton give a soft, filled-in look, similar to brow make-up. I use a machine to build the shading, with the option of a lighter front and deeper colour towards the tail. This can suit you if you like defined brows but don’t want to fill them in each day.

What happens at your appointment
It’s just you and me in my treatment room in Patcham. First, we’ll go through your consultation and look at your natural brows. I’ll show you the different shaded finishes and ask what you like.
I’ll map a shape to your face, then give you the mirror. You can check the outline and ask me to change it before treatment starts. After numbing, I’ll use a machine to place pigment and build the soft, powdered effect we’ve agreed on. We can keep the shading gentle throughout or make the tail deeper than the front.
The first session takes 1 hour 30 minutes. Your brows will look stronger straight afterwards and change while they heal. At the included perfecting session 4 to 6 weeks later, we’ll look at the healed result together. I can adjust the colour or shape if needed.
Is it right for you
Powder brows can suit you if you often use brow pencil or powder and like that filled-in look. They can also suit oilier skin. If you prefer the look of separate hairs, microblading may be closer to what you want. The comparison guide explains both.
I’m a qualified beauty therapist. My 2012 BA (Hons) in Makeup Artistry drew me towards semi-permanent make-up. I’m insured for the work I do. I hold Brighton & Hove City Council registration for semi-permanent make-up, and I use single-use blades alongside disposable equipment.
I’ll look at photographs before I say whether I can correct semi-permanent brows done by another artist. It depends on how saturated they are. I don’t offer removal, and top-ups are only for my existing clients.
I cannot treat you if you’re under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have uncontrolled diabetes or a skin condition in the brow area. I also cannot treat you if you’ve had Botox in the past month. The full list is on my semi-permanent brows page under “Who cannot have it”.

Before you come
If you’re new to me, book a free patch test at least 24 hours before treatment. It takes 10 to 15 minutes. I cannot treat you without it.
Stop using Vitamin A products, glycolic acids and exfoliants on the brow area for at least two weeks beforehand. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, aspirin and ibuprofen for 24 hours before the appointment. If a GP prescribes a medicine, speak to me before changing it.
Aftercare
- For the first 7 days, avoid wetting the brow area as much as possible. Cleanse around it.
- Let flakes come away without picking them, and don’t scratch your brows.
- Don’t smother the brows with aftercare product.
- For that first week, avoid saunas, pools, steam rooms, facials and skin treatments.
- Don’t use retinol acids or AHAs on the area for 30 days.
Read the aftercare guide, which also covers powder brows.
Questions clients ask
What is a combination or powder brow?
Powder brows use a machine to create soft shading rather than separate hair strokes. A combination brow adds hair strokes to shaded areas. I’ll show you the options during your consultation.
Do I need it?
Powder brows may suit you if you like a more filled-in brow and often add make-up to your brows now. If you want a subtle hair-stroke finish, I may suggest starting with microblading instead.
What’s the difference between microblading, micro-shading and powder brows?
Microblading creates hair-like strokes. Micro-shading adds soft shading to those strokes. Powder brows use machine shading for a powdered look. Skin type and the finish you want both matter when I help you choose.
